new year new beginnings

It's almost a year since I started this blog  . I started it with very little thought about what I wanted it to be . I was a newbie with a hook I look back at some of my early work and shudder  equally I have had some proud moments  . I though today is perfect chance to look back and the things I am.most pleased with.

Then there is the ones not so pleased with

And of course the unfinished

But all in all  it's been a productive year I have learned a lot and ready for new challenges  although not sure what they will be lol

 Any way however you spending this year I have one wish for you all

Technicolor dream socks

Still.under the weather and needed something to brighten my day

Am.sick.of Xmas red and green so when simply crochet magazine turned up with granny stripe socks I couldn't resist

It's a greAt pattern and the sock only take a few hours each  here is the result

He thinks they suit him.and should be his . I  not so sure

when you wish upon a star

I have neglected you all.My son has been ill and this was swiftly followed by me. The joys of being a mum.hey


There is two weeks till the big day and the days are a whirl.of Xmas play parties and Santa visits


I have not been as busy as I hoped but thought I would share today offering

perfect strangers

 Not sure if any of you took.part in this but details were on face book. You basically give your details and are matched with a stranger and you exchange gifts. So as it's the season of giving I joined

However I was a late joined and so only had a week to get organised. My partner liked music ,reAding and animals other than that she is a mystery to me.

I excitedly set about making a parcel . I  started by making a mug hug and included some coffee soup and hot chocolate. I can Imagine  her sitting with steaming cup  of something reading a book.

 Who doesn't like a nibble when reading so bought her a giant candy cane and popped it into a matching stocking 

 

Lastly I popped in a Xmas cd to listen too while relaxing. Hope my partner enjoys her little treats.

reindeer days

It's been a very wet day  although I did manage another camel.walk in between showers so basically sat watching Dr who and crocheting

And I have to confess I love him

  My son already has tried to claim.him.and calling him Steve.

He is from.the book I bought last week called winter wonderland . It a rare book where you want to make everything  in it and if this is any indication I am.really looking forward to results.

I may if lucky even be allowed to keep some lol

lazy sundays

Love Autumn everything so pretty and the weather perfect excuse to snuggle up guilt free on sofa watching xmas movies hook.in hand ....surely it's not just me


I gave not been completely lazy I took dog for walk down the canal

There is nothing better than walking along soaking up nature while listening to audio book the minutes fly by. I walk for exercise but it feels like it proper me time.


Came home and played Delia made banana bread sausage rolls and soup surely now I have learnt my coffee and bit of hooky.

 This this looks fun and quick and who does love a orange in there stocking. Sadly I don't have right wool . Why this happens when I have tons of the stuff is beyond me but good excuse to shop . Back to my project the deadline is getting closer lol

diamonds are a girls best friend

Like most girls I love a bit of bling so what better than to put this with crochet. I seem to have a theme at the moment . One obsession complementing the other ( see last blog post)


So today I have been bored . Yet again wAiting for latest mag and reluctant to start something new unroll I seen what's on offer


So I decided to try something new entrelec crochet . This makes use to Tunisian crochet but you can use any hook so need to buy a new type unless like me you can't resist a nice shiny new hook.


My friend  had a tutorial on her blog but I am having blond day and couldn't get head around so I used utube. Something quite unlike me. I used the crochet crowds tutorial . And I spent a lovely afternoon with Mikey  and the result .....

Ok it's wonky  ,and there is a tension issue but it's literally my first attempt. The positives are I get the basic  idea and am.confident the next  attempt will be better .  So I am giving myself a pat on the back . I learnt a new skill . And considering a year ago I made my first granny square   I think I am.doing ok.

Saturday's for me mean one thing or at least have done for last 13 weeks . It's dr who day !!!

Unless you under a rock you would know yesterday was finale. Don't worry no spoilers here . I love the new dr  but have a soft spot for Marty Smith . I have a David remnant softie made for me before I could crochet but he was looking lonely


So I searched on ravelry  and found a rather cute mini time Lord . Now I have loads to be getting on with but instead spent whole day   do fishing him off

bag lady

I love bags when I took knitting back up the first thing I made was as bag. As I learnt to crochet the sane thing happened

Here us a selection of the bags I have made over the year.

Each bag tell a story this was made after a cushion project  never got finished and didn't want to waste the  granny squares I made 

This was my first Lucy project  and I managed to do.the increases wrong but I still like it and I love the sqidgy chunky wool. This bag is responsible for my love of both wool warehouse and stylecraft.

 This was a basket to keep my wool.for travelling all.over floor 

There of course are others I never took.picture off and the bags I still long to do such as this one.

So my.question is if I love bags and let's be honest I have many either that I have made or bought why is the sofa always covered in wool.needles , hooks you name it . Maybe my love of bags stems from.the wish to be more organised but knowing I never will be

all quiet on the western front

So I have neglected you all this week the reason being my kindle died . Amazon were really good after trying to revive it agreed to give me a new one . It was iffy as was on last day if warranty so for now I am back.in business.


As the kids have been on half term I have done very little but did buy myself a new project
I still wanted to share something with you so based on it being November what better than sharing some poppy love.

 I love this scarf  and intend to wear it a lot this month it so delicate and cute. The poppy purse goes well with it I use if for my stitching bits and Bob's

 You may remember I went to London to see the poppies and I couldn't resist  another look 

 And here is my attempt at a poppy to wear on my.clothes . I bet a fair few of us have made this recently . I know Simply crochet has a pattern if you fancy trying one of your own..

deck the halls

Ok so I am.early  but who  hasn't noticed that Xmas is upon us ?

I had big plan for all my makes but between presents decorations have been lacking. I confess I put  decorations up for the whole of December  and that means in just over four weeks I can start putting up my treasures


So I looked  throughout things I 've already I made .

There was actually more than I thought  but didn't stop me adding to the collection 

This poka dot stocking  is from ravelry is was a suggestion for a face book cal but it was rejected so I made it myself . It was  quick and easy  and fun too . The pattern can be found on ravelry  if you fancy hanging one yourself 

Well I had best go  as being told to take it down lol

harvest festival

The dark night are here  and clocks are going back next week it's safe to safe autumn is here

I love Autumn the colours on the trees

 The reds are so dramatic and  a reminder that festival.season is on the way

 This time of year is full of fun starting from Halloween then fireworks then of course the build up of Xmas seriously am.like a kid despite my children getting to the age when it harder to convince them.of the magic that takes place. 

So today's project was a quick and quirky  salute to Autumn . I hope you enjoy my colourful and dare I say cute hedge hog 

welcome home

Lime many when we start crocheting we buy cheap hooks.  Amazon perfect for this and many buy a set  all excited  to be left waiting endlessly for delivery . The reason for delay is they tend to come from China.  But they worth the wait


I love these cheap set and untill I was spoilt by my pro waves was more than happy with my cheap one

  

When I went to my.mums in the summer I left the there. We searched high and low and they were no where then a couple of weeks ago she found them.down back of sofa.she then went on a cruise so I still didn't get them.

They finally arrived home today  and despite loving my pro waves I was really glad to see them 

polar opposites

With the shawl being done I had one more pressing pressie to get done. This  was for a two year old boy . I was excited to be doing.g something fun but struggled with what exactly to make.

After looking through some book I decided to make something xmasy  and eventually settled on a polar  bear .this is not my usual choice of project  I like bright clues as as
 You can see this is lacking in this area.

However I think he's rather cute . With his cute little scarf.

This Longfellow also heralds my main presents done  so I can have a little fun with the next festive project although at this time I have no idea what I will be, but I will enjoy choosing

shawl ta dah

 Well it's finally done and even finishing it wasn't without its issues  but I am happy with it

 I really wish I could show you it all.out just to show sheer size  but this is folded in half I really like the colours  it's a mix of funky and retro lol 

Just hope my sister in law like it after all those hours 

simply sulking

 On Saturday got all excited for latest copy of simy crochet but it didn't turn up . So I concentrated on my shawl well it didn't come Monday Tuesday or Wednesday and yes you guess it still not here.

 The good thing is the shawl.should be done tonight  I got one more row and end to sew in but thought I would share any way

 It not a great picture hard when not complete but you get idea 

 Best crack on with last bit  and hopefully   my.magazine may well.turn.up but not holding breath

Remember the shawl I started last week and how much I was enjoying it ....

Well  how things change . Ok that's not really true . It's still nice easy pattern but it's grown so much  it takes half a hour  to do a row . And I still have 11 rows of body to do

I can't show just how big it is it doesn't fit in screen  you can't see how  it will be worn untill the border but just wanted to post so you didn't think I been idle and might be motivated to do next section lol

fright night

Halloween is approaching fast and my child not only got trick or treating and a birthday party that requires a outfit but also a day at school . He in secondary and the costume

needs to be appropriate to be at school in . Not to childish and let's be honest cheap.



We went through a number of option including a giant bannana !!!  But settled on a nonchalance of you may remember he does karate and a few staging ago I made him.his own ninja

He had a white suit so we decided he needed  a mask  and some weapons  so  search on ravelry and some  Aran wool  and we have 

Well he seems pleased any way lol

sunday shawl

I got side tracked today and found myself looking at shawl.patterns and one kept out at meq closer I selection showed it was by zooty owl who caused the road trip scarf craze that took over face book through the whole summer. Yes I did give in to the craze and here is mine

 The new shawl.pattern is similar and will be ideal for sister in law . It a great simple pattern and spent a lovely afternoon  doing mindless trebles

As you can see it grows really quick. Am really enjoying it  thinking may make myself one  of these.. if you want to check out the road trip scarf it even had it own face book page or Google zooty owl there are great designs of her blog . I have added her to my reading list.
