touch and go

As you can see , he has grown a lot since yesterday post . I found those African flowers almost addictive  . However it was not all.plain sailing  got to last motif and it didn't fit. I pulled out last row but no matter what I did  it wouldn't fit. My husband came up with helpful  solution of maybe it's not right!!!!!

After some  head scratching I realised that under its chin was a Pentagon and it meant to be hexagon. .After some delicate unravelling I sorted it all I need now is some stuffing !

some body to love

Quick update on the hippo. I am loving making him . The picture don't do justice to how near he is to completion ....just head and neck to do

It actually almost addictive . It's so cleverly put together . You just want to make one more and before you know it takes shape around you

However I would be lying if I said it was all.plain sailing the octagon in particular took a few attempts at joining and the front legs took me a hour to work out placement lol . Heidi instructions couldn't be clearer so was obviously having a blond moment .  Because of its tendency to drive me up wall we have affectionately named it potty   Lol.

i like big butts

AND   I CANNOT LIE!!!!!!!!

A year ago my friend spent the bank holiday weekend  making Heidi bears hippo . I looked on longingly as I couldn't even  do foundation chain .  A year on and feeling more confident after happiness  Bird I decided to try my own.

This is the behind and rear legs  . I decided to  it as stash buster project have to say am liking results

It far from perfect . The joining as you go is new skill to me and sure me Bing left handed complicates things or maybe I am just making excuses lol

I am taking this project slowly ,although for some this simple the construction seems to be challenged.,and I defy anyone not to be intimidated by a 35 page pattern  Will keep posting updates .

green fingers

I am  Not a gardener I. Wish  I was and maybe if I own a garden  bigger than a square maybe I would learn. . My friends birthday is coming up I would like to send flowers  but   the purse strings are tight  after a holiday . I searched ravelry looking for something not to quirky but quirky enough.  I always worry about filling people houses with stuff I really like  but they see as tat. I hope this flower basket doesn't  come under tat category  .it seems ideal  as easy to send in post , flowers never wilt ,not to big and should raise a smile . Well I hope so any way . Tempted to make one for my mum.. but she not I to objects that don't have purpose still I rather like it might do one for myself lol

happy holidays

I have missed my blog  although  have had a fabulous holiday . I am glad to be back and looking forward  to some summer hooky.

I read Lucy blog once and she compared making blankets to a journey so each one made memories. I loved this idea and decided to do a project for my holidays . I decided on a cushion I made three motifs and not one turned out the same . . I was lost I was on holiday on limited rations and a empty hook. On a trip to what Smith's I found a book with Heidi bears pattern for this happiness bird. Using my limited resources I made this as he took shape I realized  it looked like a seagulls . Since I was awake at six every morning by these creatures and the holiday camp mascot a seagulls. I decided this fitted the brief and will be a constant reminder Der of my wonderfully holiday . Of course now I want to do the hippo and can't think of a good excuse lol

more of a brag than a blog

I will confess I have nothing new to show you.  But wanted to share this day with you . It my son's twelve birthday! Any birthday is special but  after being told at second scan he had lump on his heart . This is a point we didn't think we would reach . We were told to expect  epilepsy mental heath issue  down syndrome and limited life span despite all this we went ahead and he was born not weak and sick but almost a whopping ten pound. As you may have guessed he was never ill there was something wrong with scan but we didn't find this out till he six months . The stress of the final test at hospital  is something I will never forget or walking past rows of patents who wouldn't get the same great news so  out if ny three children it's  this birth that always makes me take stock of things

Now on to the brag. There is a second reason today special for last few Yeats  I have been with slimming world and hit target after loosing five stone
This is the before and after . Now there is more of a point to this post than leveraging I promise. It's the power of crafts .during dark times i have crafted. I have also used it to stop boredom eating . Craft is more than simply  making pretty things with wool and I am.sure any crafters out there have there own stories where simple yarns or paint or fabric  have brighten a day and strengthen resolve.

how much is that doggy in the window?

I thought I would share my wip with you  as I doubt I will finish before my holiday and he to cute to be ignored  . I took many pictures  untill I realised you need to see whole thing
So here  he is  . I think you can see why he had to be placed top (dog ) of my to do list. I love dogs . I have a four year old jack russell. She very friendly but bit of diva. She hates the spotlight not being on her . So now my dog has a head and neck and he on sofa ( typically her spot) she is less than Impressed !

birds of a feather

I find  real life birds worrying . This stems from.a holiday in Venice and st Mark.square being covered with pigeons and my mum.thinking it a good idea  to feed them. Actually maybe it really stems  from my mum  ( can you see a theme developing) run Bing over a pheasant getting out car slinging it in boot only for it to come alive and run around car and my grandad breaking his neck .  Lol these two incidents may seam.harmless enough but add that to my other grandfather shutting me in coop to collect eggs and my son dinosaur program suggesting some evolved into birds I think these creature very untrustworthy.

Despite this I do love making them the top one is from Lucy website  the one below taken from.bunny mummy who based her initial design.on Lucy . I took elements of both to create the one below and pleased with the result . I read a comment on a blog saying  there no such thing as something completely original in crochet  and these birds prove it at first glance you can see Lucy influence the main difference is  in the granny circle and size of bird  but what I love about crochet is freedom to evolve a pattern . I will just try not to think.  About what birds evolved into when it comes to these guys lol
Lol sorry some how this birdie flew away so added it on told you they tricky creatures
