women's work

It's so hot I haven't been  doing much crochet but I have been playing on face book  and I came  across this advice  for sewers but could pay to any crafter

As you can see by the advice it was bound to be written by a man !!!

I guess if you take the sexist rubbish out of it . It is sound advice  a tiny house can help a tidy mind however for me at least my desire to crochet leaves a trail of unfinished chores lol

busted

Yes you guessed the wool ware house strike again. There delivery is super but why oh why did they have to be so fast. The knock at the door t look  by surprise then I realized it was wool and my husband Sat right there eek lol

This is cotton double knit and bulk of what I bought a bargain at 90p per 50g

This Aran weight and already ear marked for a cushion

This is 4y I am not usually a fan but going to try lacy scarf

So as you can see no way can I hide this little lot plus I keep looking and touching it lol do any of you hide your stash and more importantly have you been caught?

bargain.hunting

I have been quite last week or so but my son has been poorly and some things more important than crochet. Consequently I have nothing to show you although I am working my way through  some Christmas bunting ....and yes I know it only July

I have however been tempted today by wool warehouse sale  . They have a sale on . The yarn in question is drops. I have never used it before.  I tend to stick to cheap dk but thought it good excuse to try something  New, but how to choose so went through my book picking projects that really need cotton rather than acrylic. I unfortunately had a budget so decided to keep going until I hit the free postage mark

I was surprised . I got enough to make a Aran cushion. Some cotton slippers in a bag ideal for Xmas present. A table runner four placemats and cushion. A scarf and should have enough left for other bits and Bob's. All in all a bargain so why do I feel guilty lol

Any way that's it from.me for now so if like me you want a bargain and a touch of guilt head over to wool ware house and grab a bargain.

mystery make

Ha  at last  !!!!!

maybe it just hates the kindle switvhed to pc and it work good job too as was going to lob through window ....... anyway

Today I just didn't feel like picking up my hooks. So instead decided to work on the Dorset button mystery kit I got from unwind Brighton.

It's done in 2 ply which I did struggled with a bit and whole process to create button is bit fiddly but I think eventually I got to grips with it

And here it is

the  kit contained  the wool  a needle and various intsruction. i love the colours anddespite being so thin the wool is truely lovely makes me whish in general i could afford better  than standard double knit . lol i am guessing you dont want to hear about my wool poverty  so will  move on

this is pretty basic variation of the wheel  . some of the instructions  were very complex but  they can be very ornate . here are some examples

and heres  another
these are really good for necklaces and bracelets and i think would make  interesting fastening for a shawl or scarf i wont be making loads of these but who knows i may try my hand  at some more . if your interested in making your own instructions can be found on good old google

blogging hell

I am trying to show you my latest work and despite trying for over five hours I can not get picture to upload

I am not ignoring you and hope this sorted out promptly

unwinding in brighton

Well I  back from.the unwind Brighton festival and I loved it below it a blanket  that was designed for the festival. The picture doesn't do it justice but at nearly 200 quid for kit I  decided to get pattern but as yet not available

I was really restrained as I walked about the market . Place  . I bought a necklace kit and these  stitch markers.  I would like to say the restraint was me being grown up and responsible but the a dual festival was geared more to knitting . If it  ad more crochet  I am.sure bag would be bulging

These postcodes we were given by various stall.holders  I really like them far to nice to actually send.

As you can see the sun  was shinning on us yarn  fanatics . The day was full f talks and demos but  as I had family who are non knitters we finished the day on the beach in the arcade.

quick update

Just a quickie I put the button on  and I think it looks much better this comes from.the simply crochet  mag . It was a cover freebie. I was at a loss what to use it for but actually it's perfect

I will be awol for a few days .as tommorow is my birthday so heading down to the unwind festival at Brighton !!! I have even more reason than my birthday to celebrate I have after six years finished with the open university and proud owner  of a hours degree

I am sure the next post will be my festival snaps enjoy your weekend whatever your plans x

the perfect match

So after yesterday post I set about making the other half got to the last round to discover it wrong. I ripped it back and set off again but each time it wrong .carefully looking at pattern it wrong from round two . Not sure how first side turned out right lol

So with heavy heart I started again.  Thankfully followed my own idea and it worked here it's the result

I really do like the colour . I had some issues with the way it hangs which some edging has largely sorted. I think I may add a button to aid it further but at least it done . If I made again which I highly doubt I would do a smaller hook. As it very lacy looking   but it's very much a trial.and error pattern and believe me at times it was a trial

long time no see

It seems such a long time since the last post. I have been so busy enjoying the sunshine I barely picked up hook

Then on Saturday I came home to my new hook its a monster hook . It's 15mm I bought it to start a shrug. As it big hook and super chunky wool I was confident it would grow quickly.

It didn't I had to take it apart four times. Today I resolved to have one more try . Got to round four and something was wrong. After talking to my friend she arrested the pAttern was wrong. Just this confirmation  was enough to push me forward and half of my shrug is done.

The picture is not the best  it really lovely purples ,lilac and blue running through it

This picture shows it in a bit more detail . It so soft I can't wait to wear it and I hope it all done for the festival.

festival virgin

There are many things I have never done rock concerts , clubbing and yes festival . I don't mind none of these things are really me untill I discovered a festival tailored made for me.

Brighton is very close to where I

grew up and I noticed there a festival on the weekend of my birthday . The festival is called Brighton unwind and yes you guessed it it's a wool and knitting crochet festival.

I was destined not to go as my other half works most weekends and we live 400 miles away but the fates have conspired and he's off and willing to drive me and we staying at my mum's for weekend. I can not tell you how excited I am.to be going

Here is a link if you fancy reading more about the festival and who knows I may even see you there

hip to be square

Where has this year gone ??

So I am looking out at the sunshine and what am I thinking  I am.thinking about Christmas . I know at some point this month I need to start the Xmas devs ans gifts I have many projects in mind and sure many extra will creep in . Despite loving Xmas I can't face it just yet so have concentrated on my blanket

It's hard to show you pic ... but here goes
As you can see I have only completed one square of row  two but as squares so big just adding the square you can see instant growth. As much as I am enjoying

Couldn't fit in all the square each row will be five squares across with nice border should fit my bed perfectly.

Although the blankets is humble grannies it's a good way to learn new squares the aim.is no square will be the same. Who knew there were so so many squares out there.  I would love to see any of your squares you can post here or find me on Twitter  @moodymakes
