a celebration bird

This is my 100th post I don't think I have ever kept at a diary so long and certainly not a blog but I did wonder what I should do as my post . I am also getting to the anniversary of first learning to crochet so I wanted it to be something good I attempted some very tricky most but messed them up and the result  was not picking up my hook

So then today my new copy of simply crochet came . It's a bumper issue ready for Xmas . How could I not find something I wanted to make. And what really stood out is the free attic 24 kit to make a board bird

It seemed fitting Lucy work opened my eyes to what was possible Crochet . I really thought it was all granny squares and bunting untill then.  So I set to work a three hours later here it is

Forgive the photo . It's really hard to get it right but it is actually really cute. The pattern was in a book of various decoration . I love the early and the colour so think I will make a few for my tree.

So that's it the my 100th post thanks for reading . I hope you enjoy reading it here's to the next 100!!

chunky love

I wasn't idle on my holiday. I took my attic 24 chunky pack. The plan was to make the jolly chunky bag.  I didn't finish it in my time away but have finished today and here it is

Those  of you who love Lucy will be able to see some obvious differences between mine and hers .  Firstly mine in narrower . This is simply as I got carried away chatting and forgot to do the increases lol

The other difference is less noticeable in a picture but is the tension . Mine is looser. This was because I planned to use my new pro wave hook and used the wrong size lol. The hook I had was the pink 5.5  . I love pink and let my enthusiasm get away from.me lol

Even with these might or differences I do like the bag and its very jolly indeed !!!

festive bunting

I was determined to finish this bunting but it's been hard going. I blame weather Xmas stuff in  the temperature we been having is hard going

I did enjoy it mainly as my youngest son helped with the triangle . My hope is year on year I will look at it and remember an evening crocheting together watching Monty python and singing I am a lumberjack lol

As you can see its quite simple  granny triangles and stars repeated.  But I like the effect better than the cheap plastic chains I buy and break every year lol

 So what now ??

Well I do have a cushion to.complete but am.going away for a couple of weeks and it not suitable, so I have decided to try the jolly chunky bag from.Lucy at attic 24 ' I really must stop starting projects and actually finish them.lol

i never promised you a rose garden.......

Ok  so maybe I did ....... and here it is

This is the roses  grouped into sizes we have two large roses nine smaller roses four tiny flowers and six micro flowers. Full detail can be found on Lucy blog at attic 24 if you fancy a garden of your own.

I couldn't wait  to see how they went together so I  had a play I like the muted colours  it gives  a very different feel to Lucy . I really enjoyed making these and embellishing  the flowers with beads . The photo doesn't  show how pretty  it looks when it catches light

The flowers are lacking it's greenery  and although it's headed I am not looking forward to endless green . Any one in blog land want to hook some for me .... No didn't think so .Oh well that's a job for tomorrow.

mandala mania

Blog land is full of mandala at the moment.  This heighten awareness comes in a big part to Lucy over at attic 24 . Who is busy preparing for yarndale I am very excited as hoping to go this year. Any way it got me thinking as I have a fair few of these myself . The above one  was my first attempt and I feel in love  them
The next two examples  are from another blogger and both appeared in simply crochet magazine

This is my latest and this came from.Lucy's blog. Not sure if I will send to yarn Dale  as I quite fancy making them.into some kind of display here as certainly running out of places to put them . Are any of you going to yarndale ? I would love to see if  you create your own mandala.

i love lucy

I had heard of Lucy at attic 24 before I had made my first  foundation chain. My friend introduced me to Lucy work  after she had competed a beautiful wreath. I set off for a journey into blog land and spent literally hours trawling her  blog and with a determination to learn crochet. Before I set up this blog I read others and was shocked by how often Lucy name mentioned   and a quick Google shows how many people have been inspired  by Lucy work.  These two picture are my attempts at recreating  Lucy work .I especially love the wreath which  was featured in February simply  crochet mag and the little bird is simply  adorable and very quick to make  My ultimate aim is to do a proper wreath but then something else seems to take my eye, still never say never
