new year new projects

Many of you would have seen.the new year in at a party but for me it was a quiet night with a box set and my hooks.

My friends daughter is soon to have a 5th!!!!! Baby so I decided  to make a gift. She has made a daughter a gorgeous blanket as has a mutual friend so I decided it needed to be something else.

But more important than.what to make was issue of what to use . I am acrylic girl usually and have nothing soft enough  then I remembered my cotton from.wool ware house I bought in summer.

As you can see I have gorgeous colours but I had heard it hard to work with and splitting and the project never seemed right. But hey it's new year time for a challenge so I set to work

Here is the result

I really pleased with it . I have only boys and it was a joy to make such a girly  piece . The cotton was harder  but it was ok  . The booties are not perfect and one seems better than the other but we are our own worse critics and I am.sure the baby will forgive me

bag lady

I love bags when I took knitting back up the first thing I made was as bag. As I learnt to crochet the sane thing happened

Here us a selection of the bags I have made over the year.

Each bag tell a story this was made after a cushion project  never got finished and didn't want to waste the  granny squares I made

This was my first Lucy project  and I managed to do.the increases wrong but I still like it and I love the sqidgy chunky wool. This bag is responsible for my love of both wool warehouse and stylecraft.

This was a basket to keep my wool.for travelling all.over floor

There of course are others I never took.picture off and the bags I still long to do such as this one.

So my.question is if I love bags and let's be honest I have many either that I have made or bought why is the sofa always covered in wool.needles , hooks you name it . Maybe my love of bags stems from.the wish to be more organised but knowing I never will be

bargain.hunting

I have been quite last week or so but my son has been poorly and some things more important than crochet. Consequently I have nothing to show you although I am working my way through  some Christmas bunting ....and yes I know it only July

I have however been tempted today by wool warehouse sale  . They have a sale on . The yarn in question is drops. I have never used it before.  I tend to stick to cheap dk but thought it good excuse to try something  New, but how to choose so went through my book picking projects that really need cotton rather than acrylic. I unfortunately had a budget so decided to keep going until I hit the free postage mark

I was surprised . I got enough to make a Aran cushion. Some cotton slippers in a bag ideal for Xmas present. A table runner four placemats and cushion. A scarf and should have enough left for other bits and Bob's. All in all a bargain so why do I feel guilty lol

Any way that's it from.me for now so if like me you want a bargain and a touch of guilt head over to wool ware house and grab a bargain.

cushion ta dah !!!

So it's finished. I am really pleased with results . I enjoyed learning the rain bow stitch and think it quite effective. I love the colours and really glad I bought the pack from wool ware house  I have constructed mine different to Lucy's but am sure she wouldn't mind . Secretly I had to rectify  a mistake I made look. This is my first cushion but feel it won't be my last . It already brightens up the room

somewhere over the rainbow

My hippopotamus is on hold due to stuffing shortage. My husband bought me Lucy's  latest pack from wool ware house . it came today and I couldn't wait to start . It grows so quickly and the stripes are quite addictive. The wool is chunky style craft I have never used it before and have to confess I love it.. Not only is it in georgous colours but it lovely and squishy perfect for cushion making.

Lucy calls the stitch rainbow stitch I don't know if that her name or correct term but it basically two rows repeated now and easy half trebled perfect as I settle with my box set.the above is the result of hours work and think i may finish over the bank holiday weekend . I can't leave it alone. So off I go back to it . Happy hooking
